Quad to exhibit at Music Evening in Dublin Thursday November 22nd 2007

15:07 14th Nov 2007

Experience the closest approach to the original sound at our showrooms in Blackrock on Thursday November 22nd. We are delighted to welcome Quad staff to present this event which will include Quad’s new award winning 2905 and 2805 Electrostatic speakers ?and we hope to present the brand new, yet to be released Quad valve amplification.

Electrostatic speakers sound really special and as the originators of the world’s first successful electrostatic speaker the ESL 57, Quad know more about producing the goods than most!

The ESL 57 was first demonstrated to an invited audience at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 1955, the audience consisting mainly of members of the hi-fi industry, including the late Gilbert Briggs ?the founder of Wharfedale loudspeakers. Briggs assistant Raymond Cooke was also there. Cooke later went on to open his own business called Kent Engineering Foundry ?or as most of know it as KEF. The audience were astonished at just how good the speaker sounded ?and afterwards Briggs who was quite a witty individual, turned to Cooke and said “it’s the workhouse for us now!"

Quad finished making the original ESL in the early eighties. However, there are thousands of Quads original speakers still providing great listening pleasure to their owners ?I know I own a pair! The ESL 63 went into production after production of the 57 finished and like the original there are many thousands still providing faithful service to their owners. The ESL 988 and larger 989 followed after the ESL 63.

Although the new ESL 2905 and 2805 have much in common with the older models, they are vastly superior in just about every way. For a start the new models are far better built and as a result are much more rigid which in itself results in better sound. In addition the electronics are upgraded and power handling and bass response have been greatly improved. If you would like to experience Quad’s unique sound for yourself ?just drop in on Thursday 22nd.

PLEASE NOTE: would be useful for us to know if you will be attending ?and afternoon or evening. This is not critical but would be very helpful with planning. Please call me or mail me at noel@cloneyaudio.com if you know you will be attending - thanks in advance!
